The
meeting was called to order by President
Margaret Otis at
1:10 P.M.
Jo Molnar led the Pledge of Allegiance. Margaret
thanked the membership for the items they brought in for The
Baby Center and showed the membership a plate made by Joyce
Udell to be used with the plants/flowers the garden club
maintains at the front desk of the Brooks Library.
Margaret told the membership that the women who maintain
the
Brooks
Academy
and Brooks Fountain gardens have been invited to the upcoming
Historical Society volunteer recognition luncheon.
Secretary’s Report: Accepted and filed
Treasurer’s Report: Accepted and filed
Corresponding Secretary: A thank-you letter was
received from The Family Pantry for last month’s donations. A
get-well card was sent to member Susan Wright.
Membership: Carrie Wailgum reported that 108
members, 7 associates and 4 guests were present at the meeting.
Program: Susan Hart is collecting money for the
December 2nd holiday luncheon at Sea View in Dennis.
Reservations can be made for groups of four or eight, and checks
need to be received by Nov. 26th.
Civic Beautification: Irene Mitchell called
attention to the garden club’s work at
Saquatucket
Harbor
. She asked people to say yes, when they receive a call to
help clean up the many gardens that the club maintains
throughout the growing season. The blooming barrels will
be decorated with greens and a red bow before the Christmas
Stroll.
Daffodils: Aileen Demeusy reported a profit of
$140.00 on the sale of daffodil bulbs.
Chamber of Commerce: Glee Janson says the town
pole wreaths are ready and will be hung before Thanksgiving.

Building
wreaths:
Linda Felice & Aline Glifort will hold a workshop to finish
these wreaths on Dec. 3rd at
9:30
at the HCC.
Design Workshop: Doris Casey will hold the next
workshop on Nov. 21st at the HCC.
Bridge Luncheon: Margaret thanked Mimi Foster
and her committee for a lovely afternoon of food and cards which
netted the club around $2,500.00.
Newsletter: The next newsletter will be
available at the December meeting and will contain information
about the January Pot Luck luncheon.
Christmas Boutique: Cathy Dillon is looking for
another member to join her on 11/13 when the local TV station
tapes a segment about the garden club’s Christmas boutique.
She has ordered a new banner to replace the missing one.
There will be a workshop on Monday Dec. 1st
to finish various items for the sale and more greens are needed
from member’s gardens. Help is needed for the setup
(9-11) and breakdown of the event on Dec. 5th.
Maisie Wall has flyers ready and members are asked to distribute
them around town.
Old Business: None
New Business: The Rose Society is requesting
help on Nov. 15th with their cleanup of the rose
garden at the HCC.
The Hyannis Garden Club is presenting a three day holiday event
at the
Cape Cod
Cultural
Center
in
Yarmouth
on Nov. 14, 15 and 16.
The Children’s Center is holding their annual gingerbread
house silent auction on Nov. 16th at the Wequasett
Inn. Nan Poor has tickets, they are $50.00.
Brooks Academy will hold their Holiday Fair on Nov. 22nd,
and will have a tree lighting ceremony and carol sing on Dec. 14th.
The Chatham Garden Club is holding their Festival of Trees at
the
Atwood
House
Museum
on Nov. 28th and 29TH, and Dec. 5th
and 6th.

Jeanne Tassinari introduced Betty Sanders who spoke on
decorating with winter greens while she made half a dozen
arrangements which were then raffled to the membership.
