President
Margaret Otis welcomed members and friends to the spring
luncheon and fashion show at Sea View Restaurant in Dennis Port.
Margaret
thanked Elaine Sampson, Deborah Skinner and Nancy Pollard for
their efforts in organizing the luncheon. She then thanked
Mary Henry for making the lovely signs and luncheon programs
found at each table. Doris Casey and her workshop members
were thanked for the beautiful centerpieces on each table which
were raffled off at the end of the fashion show.
Copies of the Minutes of the April 9th general
meeting, the Treasurer’s Report for April and “What’s
Next” are all available at the tables near the front door.
The
Corresponding Secretary shared the cards that were sent this
past month. Get well cards were sent to Susan Wright for
knee replacement surgery, Dusty Morris for a broken hip, Alayne
Tsigas for knee surgery and to Charlotte Clark who is recovering
from heart problems at Liberty Commons.
Margaret
told the membership about Doris Casey winning an award of
excellence from the Southeastern Federation of Garden Clubs for
her arrangement of fresh plant materials at the 2008 Barnstable
County Fair.
Carrie
Wailgum will oversee the $300.00 the Garden Club is donating to
landscape a Habitat for Humanity house on
Gomes Road
.
The
annual Plant Sale is Saturday May 23rd at
Doane
Park
. Attic treasures can be left under the boat at Sally
Kimball’s house at
16 Quasson Lane
, the week before the sale.
The Historic House and Garden Tour, in cooperation with the
Harwich Historical Society, will be June 27th.
Joan Garrity is still looking for volunteers.
The
annual meeting is June 2nd. Rose Coneeny and
Mary Reynolds need donations of sandwiches and sweets for the
tea.
Margaret
turned the program over to Deb Skinner who thanked Hunter’s of
Harwich
Port
, Pentimento of Chatham and Alphabits Children’s Boutique of
W. Dennis for providing the clothing for the fashion show.
