GENERAL MEETING FEBRUARY 2, 2010

President Jeanne Tassinari called the meeting to order at 12:56 PM.   She thanked the Tea Committee.  

Secretary’s Report of the January 5 meeting had been emailed to members.  It was accepted for file.  

Treasurer’s Report for January 31 had been emailed to members.  It was accepted for file (copy attached).  

Corresponding Secretary Carrie Wailgum reported that  get well cards were sent to Grace Waystack, Mary McKevitt (heart attack) and Sharon Oudemool (eye surgery); a sympathy card was sent to Nancy McAdams on the death of her brother; and a thank you notes were received from the Chase Library and the Harwich Port Library for the Christmas wreaths. 

Program Chair Lynne Drummond reviewed the February and March programs.    We have 25 seats on the bus for the Brewster Garden Club trip to Art in Bloom at the MFA on April 26.  Tickets may be purchased now.  They are $60 ($44 for MFA members) and include a box lunch.  

Jeanne reported that Chamber of Commerce liaison Glee Janson wanted to thank those who helped her husband take down the pole wreaths.  

Ways and Means co-chair Linda Felice is going to look into ordering more Garden Club of Harwich aprons.  A show of hands indicated that many members would be interested in buying them.  

Jeanne reported that Horticulture chair Pat Tworek has arranged a tour of Eldredge Farm on Tuesday, May 25 at 10 AM.  Contact Pat if you are interested.  

Membership Chair Sue Hart introduced 3 new members:  Cori McKnight, Joan Frederici and Carole Aimone.  They were presented with a plant, their nametag and a yearbook.  

OLD BUSINESS  

Jeanne announced that at the request of Scholarship chair Pearl Fournier, the Executive Board had approved an increase in the annual scholarship from $2000 to $3000.  This will be awarded in 2010 and dispersed in 2011.  It will be in next year’s budget which will be approved by the general membership.  

NEW BUSINESS  

Be sure to read Jeanne’s email “What’s Next” for February through April.  

Sharon Oudemool has 10 member gardens and 2 surprises lined up for summer tours.  Information will be in the March newsletter.  This will be for members (and their friends) only.  Cost is $10.  

The meeting adjourned at 1:20 PM.
