A
Pot Luck luncheon was served at noon.
A
horticultural competition on house plants organized by Horticulture Chair Pat Tworek and judged by Doris Casey was held
prior to the meeting.
The
meeting was called to order at 12:57 PM by President Jeanne
Tassinari. She
thanked hostesses, Nancy Jones and Kathy Willett, for planning
the pot luck luncheon. She
also announced that $1200 was collected in December and that the
Club added another $300 so that a donation of $1500 was made to
the Family Pantry for gifts for teen age boys.
A
clip board was circulated for sandwich/dessert contributions to
the February tea.
The
Secretary’s report
and the Treasurer’s
report (attached) had been emailed to everyone with email.
Copies were available at the sign in station for those
without email. There
were no changes so both reports were accepted for file.
Corresponding
Secretary Carrie
Wailgum reported that a sympathy card and flowers were sent to
Joan Bittrich on the death of her husband; get well cards were
sent to Sally Kimball (fall), Deborah Skinner (in hospital, now
home), and Judi Cutts (back surgery); a thank you note was sent
to Don Antonellis, Shaw’s store manager for a $50 donation
toward the public building wreaths, and thank you notes were
received from Joan Bittrich and the Family Pantry for our
donation of $1500.
Program
Committee Chair
Lynne Drummond reviewed the January and February programs.
She is also going to look into making arrangements for
club members to attend Garden Club Day, Monday, April 26 for Art
in Bloom at the MFA, Boston.
Chamber
of Commerce chair’s
husband Hank Jansen asked for volunteers to help take down the
pole wreaths on Saturday, January 16
Design
Workshop
chair Doris Casey had a clip board circulating for the January
13 workshop.
Membership
Chair Sue Hart introduced and gave a plant to new member Helen
Beard.
Christmas
Boutique
Chair Gerie Schumann announced that the Christmas Boutique
grossed over $2000 and netted $1875.
She thanked all who helped (about 60% of membership).
The
meeting adjourned at 1:15 PM.

adjournment Lynne Drummond introduced the speaker, David Simser
of the Cape Cod Extension Service, who gave a very informative
and humorous presentation on “What’s Bugging You”.
